What is the Best Vitamin C Jelly for the Face?

Vitamin C Jelly

When you think of turning back the clock on time, we automatically think of anti aging treatments. I’m a huge fan of using eye creams, serums, and gels to erase wrinkles, diminish fine lines, and try to reduce the appearance of those pesky crow’s feet stemming from the corners of my eyes. However, there is a new Sheriff in town, and it’s a jelly. Not just any jelly – a Vitamin C Infused Jelly.

Why Vitamin C Facial Products are All the Rage

If you look in the beauty section of, or simply browse your local department store’s beauty counter, you’ll see that most facial serums these days are using vitamin C as a primary ingredient. There are many reasons for this, so let me delve right into the vitamin c skin benefits.

More than anything, the antioxidant properties combined with its role in collagen synthesis make this a dream ingredient in any anti aging formula. Also known as ascorbic acid, studies show that this molecule can also help stop UV induced photodamage in its tracks.

In simpler terms, I’ll reference what skin care expert Paula Beguon said on her blog about why Vitamin C should be in your daily skin care routine:

Benefits of Vitamin C on Your Skin

  • Evens Out Your Skin Tone
  • Protects Your Skin from Pollution
  • Improves Hydration
  • Keeps Skin Looking Younger for a Longer Period of Time

I’ll take three of four of those qualities, but when you have proven science behind each one, that’s a heck of a value from one simple citrus fruit grown in my home State of Florida. 🙂

Products formulated with as little as 0.6% of ascorbic acid will directly impact your skin and have anti aging benefits along with making your skin look brighter while providing protection. You will find products on the market with up to 22% vitamin C, which obviously will be stronger, but come with a price point.

What is a Vitamin C Jelly?

It felt like some time in the year 2008 the skincare world moved from creams to the more lavish and scientific-sounding serums. Now that we are ten years past that, the world of anti aging science has moved on to another form of applying skin products to your face. This form of topical treatment is called a jelly.

Advantages of Applying a Facial Jelly

So, what are the pros of applying a facial jelly?

There are MANY. For starters, a jelly absorbs so much cleaner, without any runny mess on the face when compared to a serum. When compared to a cream, you won’t feel that heaviness, which often leads to sweat and perspiration. There is nothing worse than applying a heavy cream to your face only to go outside in the sun and start to sweat profusely!

  • Perhaps my favorite part of the consistency of a jelly product is that it travels very well. How many times do you travel, only to find out the cheap packaging popped open and serum spilled all over your belongings? It’s happened to me on more than one occasion, and I’m sure it’ll happen again.
  • Skin care products sold in jars also have the ability to be cross-contaminated. If multiple users apply the facial cream and essentially dip their grubby fingers in there, well, Houston, we have a problem.
  • There is also a lot of potential waste when it comes to serums and creams. With a jelly, the product needs nothing more than a small dab of the finger and application to the face. A little bit of jelly goes a long way towards rejuvenation.

So there you have it – the world of vitamin C skin care products is changing. Be on the lookout for a product I’m happy to recommend to you (that I’m testing right now) that you may really want to look into adding to your anti aging regimen. You can thank me later!
