Also known as Pyridoxine, Vitamin B6 is a nutrient that our bodies do not store for any amount of time. The moment that it is consumed, it is utilized for various functions and depleted. This is why it is important to constantly feed our bodies with this essential vitamin.

Some of the functions that this vitamin supports include forming haemoglobin in our blood, which carries oxygen through the bloodstream and helps to fight antibodies that can cause infection or illness. It also plays a role in the regulation of insulin, amino acids, and neurotransmitters that send signals from our brain to the rest of the body.

Vitamin B6 Role in Testosterone Production

Pyridoxine both directly and indirectly has an effect on our t-levels. In a direct way, it stimulates the production of androgens, which results in a rise in testosterone hormone production. In an indirect way, it increases the efficiency of the C2 pathway in the brain. This pathway controls the creation of hormones that have a negative effect on testosterone levels, such as estrogen. Which these detrimental hormones kept in check, it allows a proper balance of testosterone in the body.

It can be confusing when you hear of estrogen as a “female hormone”, as it is present in both men and women. The difference in the sexes is the balance of these hormones. In men, there is a higher level of testosterone and vice versa in women. Getting enough B6 in your diet, for men, can keep testosterone at a healthy level.

In addition to regulating the amount of estrogen, it can also control the level of prolactin (according to this study), another detrimental hormone in regards to testosterone.
