How to Get Motivated to Work Out on a Saturday
First, I make sure that if I sleep in, which we all deserve to do, that I don’t over-do it. Sleeping until noon isn’t something I recommend unless you are still in college.
I typically get up later on a Saturday morning, start the coffee, and then check my emails. Checking my emails allows and clearing out important items opens up the rest of my day to be worry-free, so that I can do whatever comes to me.
#1: Do something early
I don’t care if you walk, run, lift, or do a class – get it in early. Every day of the week, and especially Saturday, the later you let the day go by, the less of a chance you’ll have to make shit happen.
#2: Avoid the early day drinking
We all love day drinking. I usually go to a spicy bloody mary for football games on Sundays, and it’s very tempting on Saturdays as well. As they say, “Saturday’s are for the boys.” However, the earlier I start that booze, the worse my day will become, and the prospect of me doing anything constructive just evaporates with every sip. It can be anything, gym, yoga, pilates, the whole nine. Just plan ahead, and it’ll be more likely to happen.
Those are easy things you can do to keep your healthy lifestyle trucking along. I use these tips every weekend, and I’m a weekend warrior. However, after keeping off thirty pounds, I’ve made life my bitch and know when to pick and choose my battles, and when I need to just get stuff done and be focused on my body.
