You can’t go anywhere these days without hearing about or seeing CBD. They have penetrated just about every category of health and wellness products, and they’re only going to be more talked about in the years to come. Whether it be oil tinctures, capsules you take like a vitamin, vaping, bath bombs, and even gummy bears, they are showing up everywhere.
Now, you can even get CBD in the millennial’s favorite form with the introduction of Recess CBD-infused sparkling water! Move over LaCroix and Bubly, because there is a hot new trend in the world of seltzer water that is already flying off the shelves.
What is Recess CBD?
Recess is a new flavored sparkling water that is infused with cannabidiol (CBD) as well as adaptogens to bring medicinal benefits and relief from stress and anxiety. You can get it in three (delicious, I must say) flavors that include Peach Ginger, Pom Hibiscus, and Blackberry Chai. They are priced at $39.99 for an eight-can pack of one single flavor, or you can get a six-can variety pack for $30.00.
These products speak to the millennial generation that has gobbled up sparkling water like it’s… well, water. They are pretty Instagrammable with their basic, yet appealing, pastel-colored cans that really stand out in a simplistic way. They present a great non-alcoholic option when going out to a party, and are a nice thirst quencher as well as a way to relax when you’re just sitting around the house, the office, or on your commute.
What’s in Recess?
Of course, they contain CBD which helps a ton when it comes to clearing your mind. After drinking one, I was instantly calmed and relaxed. It really goes great for a night on the couch when I just want to unwind after a hectic day. On top of that, these drinks contain adaptogens, which are herbs that help your body adapt to stress.
Ginseng is included to fight stress, boost your energy, and provide immunity support. It also contains L-Theanine, an amino acid that you’ll commonly find in green tea to help with relaxation. Also included is Schisandra, an herb used in Chinese medicine to help with concentration and focus.
How Does It Taste?
The most pressing question is what does it taste like? For me, most sparkling waters have such a faint flavoring to the point where I’d rather just have a glass of regular water. That’s not the case with Recess. I picked up a variety pack so I could try out all the flavors. I’m not a fan of things that are too sweet, and these cans hit just the right note of being full-flavored without going overboard. I’d say the Blackberry Chai is my favorite – it tastes like Christmas if that makes sense! If you’re a big soda drinker (which you shouldn’t be, you know they’re terrible for you), it may be too faint of a taste for you, but you’ll definitely love these if you’re a kombucha drinker.
Many people who come across these products are curious about the legality, associating these drinks as “water with weed.” The cannabidiol compound is legal in most states (but you should double-check your local municipality, as it differs from state to state – just ask Maine). Secondly, another common question is whether or not it will get you high. The answer is no. These do not contain THC, which is the psychoactive compound in marijuana that gets you high.
