piperine and weight loss

I’ve been beating this mantra over and over again, but it bears repeating: a supplement is only as good as the ingredients that go into its formula. If it is just full of fillers and additives and preservatives, then it’s not going to get the job done for you. You want the most effective active ingredients to help you fight fat and curb your appetite if you really want to lose that extra weight.

One such ingredient that is commonly used in many diet pills on the market today is piperine, which I will take a look at in my analysis below.

For all my top diet pill recommendations, you can find a lengthy report here:

How Piperine Supports Weight Loss

Hold on a second, I need to sneeze. [Achoo!]

Ok, I’m better now. If you’re wondering what that is about, it is because piperine (from which Bioperine is extracted) is the chemical found in black pepper that makes you sneeze. But on top of that, it has many health properties that can help you lose weight! Truly!

Many studies have been conducted on this ingredient that supports its efficacy in fat loss, which is why it has become so widely used in the diet supplement industry these days. What it specifically does is keeps new fat cells from forming. With less fat and leaner muscle, you will have a much healthier physique. Researchers have asserted that due to its properties it can be a very effective tool for fighting obesity and other fat-related disorders.

While it has seen use recently in diet pills, it has a long history in ancient medicine. Piperine has traditionally been used to treat a number of issues, particularly those of the stomach. These include gastrointestinal disorders like diarrhea and irritable bowel syndrome, as well as cholera.

Other Benefits of Piperine

On top of its interaction with genes in your body to fight the formation of new fat cells, piperine also has thermogenic properties. It is similar to capsicum in this way. This raises the temperature in your body so that your metabolism is boosted.

In addition, there are a few other health benefits of piperine that help with weight loss:

  • Lower total cholesterol levels
  • Lower levels of LDL (bad cholesterol)
  • Reduction in the size of fat cells
  • A decrease in the number of triglycerides in the liver
  • Appetite control

Studies have indicated that because of all the properties above, the addition of piperine to your diet, whether it be through food or supplementation, can have significant benefits for weight loss without altering your caloric intake.

Where to Find Piperine

You don’t have to go far to find piperine. It is most commonly found in black pepper which is one of the most used spices in the world. This is the richest source of this chemical, with around 9% piperine content. Other types of pepper have a less than 2% concentration.

If you really want to up your intake of this ingredient, you can do so through supplementation. One of the top diet pills that features piperine is PhenQ, which you can find my review of here:
