Fenugreek and Testosterone

seeds of fenugreek herb

Whenever I’m buying a testosterone supplement, one of the ingredients that I look for is Fenugreek. No, despite the name, it has nothing to do with the country of Greece. Rather, it is an herb that is traditionally used in Persian, Indian, and Turkish cuisine.

It has been used for centuries for its medicinal properties (despite just being a tasty herb additive to dishes), so I decided to take a deeper dive into what it does for the body and why it is so commonly found in test-boosting supplements.

Can Fenugreek Boost Testosterone?

As mentioned above, this herb (scientifically known as Trigonella Foenum-Graecum) has been used for ages for its benefits towards blood sugar control (benefiting diabetes), for an increase of breast milk production in women, as well as boosting libido and testosterone levels in men.

As for its testosterone boosting properties, while it does show promise in that area (especially when taken at a dose of 500mg per day or higher, it is best utilized when mixed into a formula with other powerful active ingredients like Magnesium and D-Aspartic Acid.

Health Benefits of Fenugreek

This herb has tremendous benefit to the body when taken regularly, whether it be through your diet or with supplementation.

Some of these benefits include:

can fenugreek boost testosterone?
  • Fighting inflammation, both inside and outside the body
  • Improving athletic performance
  • Raising the libido and sexual performance in men
  • Enhanced cognitive function
  • Regulation of blood sugars to fight diabetes
  • Fight cancer with saponins, a compound that stops the multiplication of cancer cells
  • Improved digestive health
  • Increased vitality
  • Strengthens the immune system

In terms of its use in a testosterone booster, fenugreek has the ability to stop the bioconversion of testosterone in the body. It prevents testosterone hormones from converting to estrogen. Estrogen is a feminine hormone that men have, but it is best to keep it in check to keep testosterone levels high. Fenugreek can help maintain a proper balance between these hormones.
