I’ll let it be known for the record that I am not a fan of sparkling water, but it seems like it is ubiquitous these days. You can’t open a pantry or fridge and not see a case of LaCroix or Bubly staring back at you. To me, they just don’t have a strong enough taste to my liking. If I want water, I’ll drink some water. If I want something that tastes good, I’ll grab something that is more full-flavored than the faint taste you get in sparkling water.
However, there are some new products on the market that may have me rethinking my opinion of sparkling water. Not that I think I will enjoy the taste any better, but rather my interest is piqued because of what is in it. If you’ve browsed around this site at all for any length of time, you will know that a lot of my writing is dedicated to the CBD industry. It has become one of my biggest passions. These products have changed my life, making the days easier to bear and helping me sleep better at night.

CBD-Infused Sparkling Water
As written by MarketWatch.com, we have now reached peak sparkling water. In what has already become a $50 million industry every year, I can imagine that the revenues will grow even higher now that some companies are adding CBD-infused products into the mix. The brand is called Recess and is based in New York City.
They currently offer three flavors: Peach Ginger, Blackberry Chai, and Pomegranate Hibiscus. Each can contains hemp extract as well as adaptogens which can help with stress relief as well as provide an energy boost. On top of that, they also contain American Ginseng to aid focus and memory. The strength is 10 mg of CBD hemp extract per can.
Given that the sparkling water market has already reached nearly $50 million in 2018, and the CBD market is projected to grow to more than $2 billion by 2020, I think that these two markets can work together synergistically and become a superpower. I could see a lot of overlap between people who would use either of these products, and the combination of the two could be a real sweet spot for distributors of both kinds of products.
What This Means
This isn’t a new development, as big players have begun to enter both of these markets recently, and it posits that we will be seeing a lot more of this kind of product development in the future. Last year, Pepsi announced that they are launching their own line of sparkling water products. In addition, Coca Cola recently announced that they are in the works of releasing CBD-infused beverages. There are also many beer distributors, as well as coffee and tea makers, that have gotten into the CBD industry.
As more people focus more heavily on their health and wellness, the markets for seltzer waters and CBD products is only going to continue to grow. This is just the beginning!
