Zinc is a mineral that you know you should be getting in your diet, but probably aren’t consuming enough of. There are so many health benefits of this mineral. On top of that, there are so many things that can go wrong if you aren’t getting enough.
Whether it be through food intake or supplementation, it is vital that you get enough zinc. Beyond its health properties, it has many uses in weight loss. That is why it has become a popular diet pill ingredient. One such diet pill is Phen24 (read about it here). In this post, I’ll take a look at why this mineral is used for weight loss.
It is vital that you be getting enough zinc on a daily basis, and not just for weight loss purposes. When you are not getting a sufficient amount of this mineral in your diet, there are a number of issues that can arise. Zinc plays a large role in protein synthesis, which helps you build muscle. You will become weak and fatigued without this mineral. On top of that, it helps to boost your immune system. So if you want to keep the common cold at bay – get more zinc! Plus, it also helps to heal wounds and can even improve your sense of taste and smell.
Zinc is in a lot of foods that we regularly eat, particularly in meat (more specifically in dark meat poultry), as well as dairy, seafood, nuts, and legumes. But just because it is found in many foods, that doesn’t mean that we are getting as much as we should. Experts recommend that the average person should be taking in 10+ milligrams per day of zinc. Pull up a food calculator online and find out what your daily intake of this mineral is. Chances are, you’re not getting enough, so it is wise to add some through supplementation.
When studying obese people, it was observed that for the most part, they had lower levels of zinc in their bodies as compared to a healthy person. This formed the idea of a link between zinc and obesity, so a study was conducted with zinc supplementation on a group of obese test subjects. After adding 30 milligrams of zinc to their daily diet, the participants lost weight and increased their lean muscle mass. This led to an improvement in their body composition (fat percentage). In addition, there was a noticeable increase in triglyceride levels.
It should be noted, however, that zinc alone won’t lead to weight loss if it is not the underlying cause of the weight gain. It is similar to iodine in that respect. However, it is an important nutrient that you should have in your diet regardless. The best way to get it as a weight loss aid is as part of a formula in a diet pill. There it will be alongside other active ingredients to boost your metabolism and curb your appetite. Combine that with a healthy diet and exercise, and you should see the unwanted weight come off.

It is important that your diet gets you all the vitamins and minerals that you need. You know the main ones – Vitamins B and C, calcium, potassium, stuff like that. But one mineral that is often overlooked, but whose importance cannot be overstated, is iodine.
Beyond just helping promote overall better health, iodine has properties that make it beneficial for weight loss. That is why you will often find it in diet pill formulas. In this post, I take a look at what it does to help you shed pounds.
Before I talk about what iodine does for you, I’ll take a step back and talk about what happens when you aren’t getting enough of this mineral. For starters, it can take a toll on your appearance. A dull skin tone, dry skin, and brittle hair are all symptomatic of an iodine deficiency. In addition, it has a lot of effects internally. You will have less energy, trouble with digestion (constipation), cramping of the muscles, cardiovascular issues like a weak heartbeat, and overall fatigue.
Another side effect? Weight gain! Iodine helps to keep your thyroid working efficiently. It is important to have a healthy thyroid so that your body is working at its best. If you are not getting enough iodine it can lead to a condition called hypothyroidism, which is symptomized by weight gain and severe fatigue.
When you are afflicted with hypothyroidism your metabolism is slowed down and your body is not burning fat as efficiently. With less fat being turned into energy, you are fatigued and not maintaining a proper weight. There’s no surprise there. This is why it is important to get enough iodine in your diet. This can be done through your food intake. However, if you really want to make sure that you get your daily recommended dose, you should do so through supplementation.
While it is available as a dietary supplement on its own, it is recommended to get iodine through a complete diet pill. This way it is blended with other active ingredients to attack weight loss from all angles. One such diet pill that I highly recommend is Phen24. You can read my Phen24 review here to get all the details on its benefits.
However, it must be noted that iodine will only help with weight loss if iodine deficiency is the underlying cause of your weight gain. If you are gaining weight for other reasons, getting iodine alone won’t be the magical cure for you. Sure, it is beneficial to be getting this mineral anyway. But getting it in a diet pill with other ingredients ensures that you are attacking all root causes of your unwanted physique.

While there are common ingredients that a lot of diet pills use, sometimes when you are reading a nutritional label on a supplement you will come across something that you don’t see in other products. a-Lacys Reset is one such ingredient. It certainly was unfamiliar to me, as I am sure it is to you as well. That’s because it isn’t an ingredient, per se, rather it is a proprietary blend that is specific to the makers of that brand.
a-Lacys Reset is found in PhenQ, and I wanted to take a deep dive into what it entails. To find out what it does for dieting, check out my research below.
This is a proprietary blend created by Nutraceuticals, the makers of the PhenQ diet pill. This is one of my top recommendations of any kind of diet supplement. For a full write-up, I put together a PhenQ review here that I encourage you to read.
This vitamin complex in PhenQ contains alpha-lipoic acid and cysteine. The goal is protecting your body from the damaging effects of oxidative stress. This oxidation is caused by free radicals and toxins that are in, and externally on, your body and can cause premature aging as well as increased risk factors of many diseases.
While this doesn’t sound like something that has anything to do with a diet pill, oxidative stress has a close link to many metabolic disorders and other diseases. This blend of nutrients is meant to combat damage to your cells and to help prevent fatigue. Overall, you will be in better health, have more energy, and your body will be working more efficiently.
a-Lacys Reset has many antioxidant properties that rid your body of free radicals that attack your body at the cellular level. This oxidation can have a detrimental effect on your metabolism and cause weight gain if left unchecked. By getting rid of these toxins in your body, your metabolism is kept at a high level. This level is further boosted by the other active ingredients in PhenQ.
Lastly, this ingredient can also give a slight increase in your aerobic metabolism. In the meantime, it also supports the growth of muscle. One particular study with test subjects supplementing with a-Lacys Reset showed an average of 3% weight loss. At the same time, there was an increase in muscle mass of almost 4%.
As mentioned, you won’t find this ingredient in any diet pill but PhenQ. It is a solid addition to an already strong diet pill formula. I highly recommend you give this brand a look if you are in the market for a diet pill.
For my other diet pill recommendations, I wrote a guide on how to find the best supplemented suited for your lifestyle which you can view here.
Whenever I’m buying any kind of supplement – whether it be for diet purposes, athletic purposes, a sleep aid, or whatever – I am always looking at the ingredient label. You want the best stuff in there. A pill is only as good as what goes into it. One ingredient that I always look for in diet pills is Niacin.
While some ingredients in diet pills boost your metabolism or curb your appetite, other ingredients are added for other purposes. Niacin is one such additive to diet pill formulas. Below I’ll go into what it does to help you lose weight.
Niacin is a form of Vitamin B, an essential vitamin for your diet regardless of what your health goals are. Its main function is to provide you with an energy boost. So, yes, it doesn’t have the common things that you associate with a diet pill. However, this benefit of more energy can help you tremendously with losing weight.
When consumed as part of your diet or in supplement form, niacin interacts with the other food that you eat. When you do not have enough niacin in your system, your body becomes more easily fatigued and you are not as able to metabolize as efficiently. This means that fat is not burned as well, and could become fat stores instead of used as fuel. With the addition of niacin, this fat is metabolized into energy instead of leading to fatty weight gain.
On top of those benefits, niacin is also a strong ingredient for diet pills because of its high content of fiber and protein. Fiber helps to keep your digestive system on track, so you can more efficiently pass those calories that you are burning and keep you regular. In addition, both fiber and protein have the effect of making you feel full more quickly. This keeps you from overeating and sticking to your diet. Not to mention, protein also helps build muscle, and a physique with more lean muscle burns fat more efficiently.
In addition to all the above-mentioned benefits towards weight loss, studies have also indicated that niacin can be helpful in reducing cholesterol levels. This reduces the risk factors of heart disease and other cardiovascular issues. It can also alleviate the symptoms of osteoarthritis, and some studies have indicated its use in warding off diabetes and eye issues such as cataracts.
While you can get this as a supplement of its own, it is better to get it as part of a diet pill. There it will be blended with other active ingredients to best reach your weight loss goals. One such brand is PhenQ, one of my highest recommendations for diet pills.

For more information on diet pills of all types, I put together a lengthy guide here.
When it comes to ingredients that are commonly found in diet pills, many of these nutrients are found in foods that you probably already have in your daily intake. However, many times it is the case that we are not getting a sufficient amount. We fail to reach our daily recommended value and receive the best health benefits from them. That’s where supplementation comes into play to make sure you are getting enough.
L-Carnitine Fumarate is one such ingredient that we can get through food. However, we tend to lack getting enough of it. Below I’ll take a look at this ingredient and explain why it is so helpful for weight loss and why you should be getting enough of it.
This ingredient is an amino acid that assists your body in burning fat more efficiently. Sounds like something that would perfect in any diet pill formula, right? That is why it is included in some of the top-selling dietary supplements like PhenQ, which I review on this page here.
This amino acid oxidizes glucose in the bloodstream. This ensures that your body is using these sugars more efficiently as fuel. If this is not regulated properly, then your body begins to build up fat stores instead of burning these calories.
In addition to that, if sugars and fats aren’t burned as fuel for your body efficiently, then your body starts to eat away at your muscle mass for energy. Supplementation with L-Carnitine Fumarate helps you reduce fat and maintain a lean muscle mass. These together lead to weight loss and a healthier physique. This amino acid is commonly used in many athletic performance supplements for these reasons.
In addition to its properties that make it beneficial for weight loss, there are other ways that this nutrient brings about overall better health. It is closely tied to cardiovascular health, reducing the risk factors of heart attack and heart disease. While further studies are recommended to be more conclusive on this front, there has been evidence that this ingredient can alleviate the symptoms of cardiovascular issues as well as boost energy and reduce fatigue.
Additionally, some studies (though they are early and not to be taken as gospel yet) indicate that this ingredient can also support better mental health. It may relieve depression. It may also provide relief from the symptoms of mental diseases that come about in older age such as dementia.
The most popular diet pill that contains this ingredient is PhenQ. I linked to my review above and I encourage you to read it in full to learn more about it. It is one of my top choices for these kinds of pills.

See that picture up there? Yep, that’s a cactus. Looks delicious, right?
Wait, no. Scratch that.
When you think of a cactus, you don’t often think of something that you eat, but the fact of the matter is that it contains many nutrients that when extracted can work wonders for your body. Now I’m not advocating going out to the desert and ripping a big chunk off and taking a bite out of it. Rather, I’m suggesting that you start using supplements that contain some of these nutrients.
Nopal is one such nutrient that is used as in ingredient in diet pills, and for good reason, as I will explain below.
Nopal is a type of prickly pear cactus that is commonly found in the Southeastern region of the US as well as in Mexico. This ingredient can be used as a standalone supplement, but today it is most commonly found as part of a whole formula for diet pills with other active ingredients.
This plant is packed with nutrients, such as:
Clearly, this plant is like a multivitamin in and of itself.
The reason why it is used in diet pills is how it supports better digestive health. On top of all the vitamins and minerals listed above, it also has a very high fiber content. It helps to break down fat in the body, metabolizing it so that it can be used as energy and passed through the digestive tract, instead of forming fat stores.
In addition, fiber has the effect of making you feel full faster. When your appetite is curbed by the feeling of having a full stomach, you are less likely to overeat. You will stick your portion control on your reduced-calorie diet. Not have cravings for unhealthy snacks helps you stick to your diet and lose weight!
Lastly, the amino acids (18 of them in this plant) can also give you energy as well as ward off fatigue. This gives you the fuel to get through your exercise routine, as well as just get through the day in general. Alongside a healthy diet, a consistent exercise program is essential for losing weight. Having a supplement containing nopal can help you on both fronts to make sure you reach your weight loss goals.
